I have been having issues viewing graphics (probably flash) and videos using IE and firefox. My computer restarts by itself on certain sites when such graphics load. I havent been able to pin point what is causing it, but it is a huge pain. It started recently, and it crashed so many times (3-4 times a day for weeks) it seems that my harddrive failed. I just reinstalled windows on a new drive and its still doing it. Its not frequent nor can i avoid the sites, since i dont know whats causing it. It always happens when a browser is open. So it has something to do with website graphics.

I recently got new RAM (ULTRA- 1GB DDR PC3200). I dont know if its causing it but i doubt it. my guess is its my video card (ATI Radeon 9200). I have an ASUS A7V8x-x motherboard and I have had issues with the video card before.

It used to crash my PC before but then I removed the software from the card's CD and let windows detect it automatically and the crashing stopped. Now its begun again, but this time its a combination of flash graphics/videos, or some other graphics thats causing it.
Any ideas? - short of buying a new video card?

Thanks,

K

You might check that the heatsink is clean and not causing overheating, or remove the heatsink and add/replace it with a fan/heatsink.

I dont think thats the issue. It wouldnt crash only when a browser is open if the CPU is getting over heated. Also, I uninstalled flash activeX control yesterday and it hasnt restarted since. However i dont know if that is the sole cause. Even if it is, I can't go without flash - a lot of sites need it!
Any suggestions?
