Hey guys I recently reformatted and when I start up everything is normal untill the xp screen in black starts loading. The os starts loading and then goes pitch black. Nothing else shows the screen just stays black. The cpu works perfectly fine when I take the gfx card out. I have a pci nvidia geforce2mx400. The card worked fine before i formatted so I dont think it burned out or anything maybe one of you can help me!

You say that when you remove the PCI graphics card the CPU works fine? Does that mean that XP loads and runs?
If so, you must have something in the display that is working and my guss is that you have onboard graphics. My suggestion is to boot into safe mode and see what is there. Remove it/uninstall and shut down the machine. Put the PCI graphics card back in and reboot.
Also, you can check Do Not Use this Device while in safe mode.
Give these things a try and post back if you have any further problems, or post back if it works for you.
Good Luck!

I have the same problem too as Marques but my computer doesn't have an onboard grafx. I have a Asus Geforce 3, and my o/s is WinXP Professional. Whenever windows loads it'll give me options of whether to Start up normally, Safe mode, Use Past drivers that recently work etc.. I tried all of those and when windows loads, it'll just freeze or stays pitch black. Few times it would actually work, I had to keep Powering off and on my computer, choose the recent driver that works option, and luckily it DOES load to windows w/out freezing. Everyday i keep doing that til i get windows to load sucessfully and im getting sick and tired of doin it.. Before I had NEVER had this Problem with my computer but now its acting Strange... Please anyone, help me out about this problem!!
