This is crazy. I have been trying to get Google.com to open for hours now on two different computers. http://www.google.com should take me there. Yes, IE Address bar. I've had it give me a hard time opening before but never like this. Yahoo.com, Avista.com opens immediately. I don't know what is going on. And it not my ActiveX either. I opened that wide open and no change. Oh well, time will tell.
Have you emptied your Temp, Temp internet, Cookies and History? I would take these steps and see if it helps. Also, go to start then "run" and in the run box type "CMD" without the quotes.
Once at a command prompt type "ping goggle.com" again without the quotes and see if you get a reply.

"Ping request could not find host google.com. Please check the name and try again.?
I pinged Yahoo.com and Altavista.com and they both came back to me instantly. I even restored XP back to yesterday. Still nothing.
Oops, I spell Google every day of my life and I goof it up in my post. My bad :)
I have myself run across this problem. I don't remember the web site but I could access it from work, my from my mom's house and my ISP could access it but I could not. The problem went on for about 2weeks and then it just started working again. I have run into the problem before and in time it cleared itself up, why? I have no idea.
What type of connection are you on and who is your ISP?

I use a U.S.Robotics 56K modem with a local ISP. (Icehouse.com). I just deleted everything I could possible think of, temp folder, TIF's folder, History folder, restored to yesterday, emptied index.dat, ran Norton, Spybot, AdAware, ran defrag. I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks KTTD, appreciate it.

I just called my local ISP and finally got thru. It seems that there is a major server on the East Coast that has crashed and somehow or another it services the state of WA. area. Won't be back up right away either.
