Problem with internet connection: Google works, other sites not. System: WIN XP Home, SP2 Netgear wireless lan router I'm definitly online I can brows throu google make new searche and get the answers (data are not in cache, i always try new search words ...) When i try to open other sites I'll get not connection. neither with IE7 nor with mozilla3.5.3. PING to other sites works other TCP/IP programms also work (google earth, yahoo messenger, online games, ...) BUT i can not see any other site exept google in IE or Firefox. WIndows firewall is off, Antivirus: GDATA switched off When i restart my whole system sometimes everthing works fine, after a while it's over again... ??? Any idea ? I appriciate your help Than you

Click Start / Run and the type CMD and click ok. In the command line prompt, make a traceroute, to check, whether name resulution is working properly. So e.g. try: tracert example.com The domain example.com does really exists and can be used for such things. You should get a list of the hops up to the exampla.com domain. The list should contain names and ip addresses. If you only get ip addresses, there is a problem in your DNS configuration or your ISP has got a DNS server problem.

Thank you for your hints i did 2 traces -> see at the end , some hops have names, some not. At the moment everything works fine, but when i have the problems the next time i'll try it again. That some in the list have only a ip address, is absolutely ok. Not all hops do have names, but if you get only ip addresses, there is a problem with the DNS. If you get this problem again, try this command in a CMD window first: ipconfig /flushdns This command flushes the windows DNS name cache. Could help.

it took a few days, but i still have the same problem google works, other sites not it did the commands you suggested ipconfig /flushdns and i also tryed a tracert example.com -> it also works ... -> see trace but no other sites than googel work neither in IE nor with firefox... ??? i'm going crazy, i have no clue ... Ok, what happen, when you empty the cache of the browsers and try to surf to e.g. google. Is this working? If so, I would suggest to use HighjackThis and Malwarebytes to check you system.

problem is still the same as i described at the beginning ... i can open google.de, google.at and google.com and can make new searches (always new keywords so the realy get new google answers) but not other sites. Internet Provider said it's not their problem ... maybe virus ... Thanks for your hint, I'll try hijack this the next days ... Thank you !
