Google website blocked

Specs: Windows XP

I cannot access www.google.com. Everytime I try to access it, I get an error message saying the page is not available. I can search for google on Bing, but it my computer won't let me access Google.com. I run AVG 8.5 security system. I've tried disabling the web shield and resident shield, as well as link scanner, but still cannot access it. Also, Bing is one of my search engines. Could it be blocking Google?

search engines don't block unless you configure them to do so.

review the settings in your antispyware software to confirm Google is not in the EXCLUDE list.

review your hosts file [hosts with no extension found in the /etc folder] and that it also contains no entries for google.com

Bing wouldn't do that but you can try to search bing for google and then click on that. Basically the same as doing this. "Try the command nslookup www.google.com and try that IP in address line. " It tests your dns.

There is a virus/malware/spyware causing that even if your scanner is not seeing it on other peoples computers.

Could also be some issue with the isp. Try another countries google such as google.com.uk.
