Can someone recommend me a decent program that will allow me to encode a variety of different file formats into a VIDEO_TS folder for burning to a DVD?

I have the burning software covered, I just need a decent encoder. Doesn't have to be free either. All I want is one that can encode many different files, but especially Xvid/Divx or similar that are encased in the AVI format, since the last app I was using ashampoo burning studio 7 wouldn't work with them. Many thanks.

Another vote here for WinAVI. I've been using it for about two years now and have been more than satisfied with its converting features with misc. .avi movie files.
