I now have only 1777 meg of space. The service seems good so far, but that POP feature is still not working yet.

If your webpage does not need updating, then there is something wrong.

Don't know what Greensystemsgo is on about. The POP function has been working for months. I do have a criticism of it however. If I send an email from within GMAIL, next time I start up OE and it pops my gmail account it downloads the sent item. Not sure if that can be adjusted so that OE or other mailclient progs only pop incoming messages.

What with having an ISP provided email addy, a hotmail account with 1gb storage and now 1gb in GMAIL, it's ample offsite storage.
One thing I've noticed, My ISP provided email account receives about 400 spam messages a month(Of which 94% are automatically filtered by the ISP). My Hotmail and Gmail accounts either don't get or more effectively filter spam. I've never received one via Gmail.

Thanks Dog, but I can only see options to either enable or disable POP for all mail. There doesn't seem to be an option to disable POP for sent items. Seems to be all or nothing. Maybe there is something in the filtering tools. Will have to play a bit with that and see.

OK I'm tired, just reread your criticism Richard59 and see what you mean. My mistrake.
Back to the topic.
The sign on page is still ticking for me, over 2.050 gig available???? And increasing by about 50 bytes per second.

I seem to have trouble using it for storage, which I thought was the whole point. No zipped/compressed files, no executables.

Kinda makes it useless really.

I just added .dog to the file. e.g backup.zip.dog. No problems storing files.

I have only recently joined but I do like the speed of the attachment of file uploads.
Being on dialup.
It also seems that the megabytes of storage goes faster than other web based mail.

Gmail's new features in my opinion show the service is maturing. Support for HTML formatting via a rich text edit control and thumbnailed image attachments really are nice to have for a lot of people. I really like the interface and add that to very good spam catching and free POP access and you've got a great webmail client.

I'm a little disheartened about the HTML editing since I think the world would be a better place if email was plaintext only (which I'll continue to use), but overall I recommend at least trying Gmail to anyone who asks. It's a LOT better than Hotmail and at least as good as Yahoo.
