I'm quite new to networking and I know for a small 3 computer network all I need is the network cards, cat5 cable and a hub.
I've got 10/100/1000 ethernet NICs installed on all of these machines - in other words they're capable of being connected to gigabit ethernet. I have yet to purchase either a hub or cables.
Is there such thing as an ethernet hub? I've seen ethernet *switches* in catalogues but they seem to cost hundreds of pounds. My budget is £100 (give or take £20), are there cheap gigbit ethernet hubs available on the high street?
