Good morning,
After installing more memory in my computer recently I was checking out the total shown as available in my System Properties.
My updated RAM (memory)always stayed the same after adding the additional memory. It always was recorded as 1.93 GBs
However, while I was checking out my System Properties I noticed that one time the GHz figure would be shown as 1.81 and then during another visit it would have a reading of 2.41.
I am just curious if it is normal for the GHz reading to change the way mine seems to be doing from time to time.
So far, it always is either 1.81 or 2.41 GHz.
Should I be concerned about this?
Thanks and regards,
Phil

GHZ is nothing to do with the amount of ram in your system. That sounds more like it is the speed rating of your CPU as measured by windows. If the system is a laptop then it is likely that the speed rating will change depending on whether you are running off mains or battery, and the current task load. I've never owned a laptop but believe they typically throttle back to conserve battery power if not under load.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Hi Richard59,
I appreciate your response. I was pretty sure that the GHz readings had nothing to do with the memory.
What I am trying to find out is exactly what does it refer to in 'laymans' terms and if it is a problem when it goes from one setting to another on my Compaq Presario AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3300+, desktop computer like I mentioned in my opening post.
Thanks and regards,
Phil
