I am trying to make a bootable cd with ghost.exe on it as I do not have a floppy drive.

I used Nero 6 to make a bootable cd. I then put ghost.exe onto the cd. When I boot off the cd, all is well. But Then I try to run ghost.exe from e:\ and it gives me a error.

"Double Fault [insert bunch of code here]" I've burned 3 copies. and Verified. So its not my burner messing up the file.

So from still in dos, I tried goign to c:\programfiles\norton ect. and running the ghost.exe from there to see if that would work. Gave me the same error. With a blue garbled ghost screen.

Why can't I run ghost from dos? I've been reading around everywhere and can't seem to find anyone with the same problem.

Thanks

What version of Ghost are you using?

Try putting the ghost.exe in the root directory in your hard drive, then make a bootable cd with nero. boot up your computer to dos, then run the ghost.exe file from the root directory. c: in most cases. type C:\ghost.

Im using Ghost 2003. I tried putting the ghost.exe at c:\ and running that. Gave me the same error.

So I would say the actual ghost.exe file is corrupted from when I installed ghost 2003..

That doesn't seem very plausible tho. I'll try uninstalling/reinstalling ghost and doing this all over in the mean time.

ok, I reinstalled ghost 2003. Put the ghost.exe at root of c, booted off a cd. and tried to run. Same error. The error is showing me a printout of my register contents if that helps.

I tried running ghost2003 backup from windows, It went into dos, did its thing, and made the image. Which is all good, however I want to make a image without having Ghost installed. just running ghost.exe off a cd.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Thanks for response guys, I finally dug out a old PSU to power a floppy drive since I have cut off the floppy cables on my main comp.

Then I was able to make a ghost boot floppy. then use nero to make a boot cd from that floppy. And it worked!

I don't know why making a boot cd, and adding ghost.exe didn't work. but..

Oh well.

Thanks again everyone.
