The techie in our local PC shoppe tells me that when I update my PC shortly it will have SATA drives and Norton Ghost 8.3 (the best) will not work with them. Is this true?

I would think that's 'probably' true, I doubt if even version 9 supports SATA. But the documentation should tell you.

I've never had a problem ghosting to or from SATA drives.

Depends on what exactly you are talking about. I make a ubcd4win with the correct drivers to run any image software.
Your current image will not work with the new drives as such. It will require making a new image or knowing how to correct the problems.
Ghost 10 may be better as you have a window PE to boot to almost any hardware supported.

The only thing to watch out for is ghosting an OS from an IDE drive to SATA drive - you may need to make sure that the necessary drivers for the SATA controller are installed first.
Summary: Does anyone know if serial ATA drives use disk space differently than standard ide drives. I do a lot of Symantec Ghosting and I just noticed the images of my XP boxes with SATA drives {same software ...
Summary: The manual says that raid can only be done on SATA 1 and 2... but it doesn't necessarily say that 1 and 2 have to be raid if used together. it says only 1 and 3 are bootable. my boot hdd is in 3 and i...
