we have some new machines using Win xp for the first time.
Trying to burn back up images using ghost 7.5.Running ghost from a boot disk allows us to burn directly to CD writer - it says you will need 3 CD's and burns until the first CD is full then just stops.
The Disk is then unusable and unreadable.
Can anyone help me with this?

Im not sure if this will help or not but I think it might. In windows make the ghost disk and then use something like nero to make it a bootable cd. Then after you've done that reboot into ghost and do the back up again starting with the bootable cd you made. If you need more info post back and I'll try and explain better.
Hope this helps

As with Drive Image, Ghost should make the CD bootable directly into the program for restoring. IMHO, *trying* to make it bootable with Nero et al, would not work at all. Reinstall the Ghost program and then recreate the Rescue disks.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, Ghost has the option to do it.
When you select this option it saves to a floppy disk. But then again I could be wrong.

Is the option in the Options menu set to "span to multiple disks?" I use Ghost on a weekly basis to write to CD-RW disks and I have no problems. You could also 'force' Ghost to do this by adding
-span to the command line so that it reads
ghostpe.exe -spanYou can also make Ghost 'split' the image into pre-defined sizes like so:
Ghostpe.exe -split=x
where 'x' is the size of the split you want to make for example:
Ghostpe.exe -split=500
will split the image into 500mb segments
Hope this helps... post back.

Thank you all for your replies - it is very much appreciated.
It will be a couple of days before I can try the suggestions on the new machines, and I will post again on the results. In answer to Xpose - the option is to "span across multiple volumes" - i assume that is the same thing ??
I haven't tried using the command line switches yet ( I couldn't follow the instructions in the manual ) so thanks for explaining them clearly .
I'll post again on Monday - Thanks again.
