Hi, I have used ghost 2003 with no trouble in XP. Are your HD jumpers set to master & slave correctly? Disk to Disk is what you want I take it. Can't think of other suggestions now.

Hmm.. not sure what virtual partition is. Not sure why a virtual partition is needed. Is the new hard drive your imaging to too small or something?

Alan, go you have the Ghost User's Guide? Virtual Partition is explained at length in the Guide (albeit scattered throughout the guide). Also, you mentioned "cloning"; is this really what you want to do, or do you want to use the Backup feature? Read carefully; if you clone your disk to another, you must remove the newly created disk immediately; otherwise you will have two bootable disks in your computer with the same OS on each and it can cause all kinds of problems. Good luck in your project. If you, for some reason do not have a User's Guide, beg, borrow or steal one before you use Ghost.

I have a guide, but haven't had to use it. Virtual partition doesn't need to be used for cloning; going disk to disk (hard drive to hard drive). In doing cloning, image restore, backup to a ghost file, I have never had to use a "viritual partition". I keep ghost images on a hard drive & DVD's. Yes, when you are done cloning or imaging, you remove the extra hard drive & make sure that the main HD jumper is set to master, so it can boot to that hard drive. good luck
