tried to save all my data on cds..but it
didn't copy any of it. used nero for burning
data cds. i then reinstalled xp (i think it
repartitioned the harddrive) is there any
way i get my data back!!!! plz help!!!!!

Pinx...You should have checked to make sure your data was copied to the CD's BEFORE you did the re-install, but too late now I suppose.
There is some data recovery software out there, but once your hard drive is formatted/repartitioned, it's almost impossible to recovery data.
If the data is extremely important, I recommend taking your drive to a data recovery specialist. They're expensive, but if the data is that important, they might be able to recover something.
Good luck!

Hi,
Sorry to be blunt but I want to help you recover your data...
If you need to recover your data, let me suggest that you slow down and check the details of what you wrote. First, I have a question about the CDs. I find it difficult to believe that Nero went through burning CDs and didn't actually do it. Were you monitoring the operation? Did the drive light flash during the burn? Did the program display the progress it was making? Did you check the "verify" box? Did it verify? Okay enough about the CDs.
Now the hard drive. It didn't repartition during the reinstall until you allowed it to do that. It would read the existing partitions and ask. If the data is important, do this. Remove the existing hard drive and get another suitable hard drive on which to install an operating system preferably XP. Then add the old drive as a slave. See if your data is still there. Then there are programs (Active Data Recovery's Partition Recovery is one) that will recover a partition or at least some of the data. Actives's is available as a free download trial. It will report its findings but will only actually recover the partition if you purchase. But you only need to purchase if it appears it will recover what you want.
The following thought is for others reading this follow up. There are better ways to fix a problem than reinstalling. If your data is important, find an alternative to reinstalling. Now there may be an exception to this but remember you will have the burden of sorting it out if you choose wrong.
And the number of messages posted relating how things went wrong is amazing.Good Luck
