The best money can buy....

2nd choice would be Dell's new gaming laptop.

Most Dell computers advertise a Pentium 4 CPU, but actually have a Celeron 4. Be sure to check into it before you buy it. I suggest checking out the new HP laptops, found here:

http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto/computer_customize_start.do

Check out the zv5000t series. For the price it is unbeatable. It has it all. 3.2GHz P4, 15.4" LCD, WiFi, 64MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 video, etc..

Just my 2 cents though..

the best notebooks you can get are sagers, with a body from Clevo. you can configure one at pctorque.com or sagernotebooks.com .i recently ordered their 8790-s with 3.4GhZ, ATI Radeon 9700 with 256MB RAM, 1024MB dual-channel PC3200 RAM, DVD-RW, TV-tuner, bluetooth, wireless G, 17" widescreen for LESS THAN $2700... depending on your budget, if you feel like you want power and you don't mind spending some extra $$$, go for sager.
i guess that half the people here haven't heard about them, so let me say a last thing to conclude myself: all major gaming brands, alienware, hypersonic, voodoo, SAGER, use the same bodies and components because they all get them from the same company; Clevo. The only difference is price and a fancy paintjob. if you want to save money and don't care too much about paintjob, go for Sager (they have custom colors, too, but for an extra $399)... all i can say is that i'm most satisfied with my lappy and i can run everything, including FarCry at highest settings with no lag and usually at LEAST 70FPS (FarCry @ 1680x1050)...

again, pctorque.com
for information about sager, www.notebookforum.com will help answer your questions.
good luck

Don't get all starry eyed over bells and whistles.
SHOP, SHOP, SHOP. Then Shop some more.
A good warranty is as important as a good battery.
A good laptop would let you load xp from a disk of your chioce not a recovery disk.
Have fun with your new toy...

lol, it's funny how you say this. sager has a no-dead-pixel warranty, plus you can it has a 30-day "money back, no questions asked" warranty as well, PLUS, you can buy an extra 3 year full coverage.. so that covers the warranty part. the battery is not the greatest because it's a gaming machine, but i can watch a full-length DVD on a fully charged 12-cell. plus, the OS they give you is OEM, which means it's as if you'd buy it in store, but you can chose to get it without OS (like i did) and install your own, which, i think, is the best... btw, sager HAS no recovery disks. every sager comes with a software bundle that includes basic things like Nero, WinDVD, drivers, etc. go to www.pctorque.com for more info...
