Gets stuc in boot/reset cycle

this query regards a desktop running WinXPHome SP2: it just was reformatted and now gets caught in a startup loop, restarting partway through bootup, and never getting to windows. it usually gets to a data screen and says : loading windows from IDE0 and then resarts, back to the bios loading screen

Have you tried running diagnostics on the hard drive, or a low level format? You can get a boot disk with the software you need to do both from the manufacturer.
