Get rid of WINDOWS MESSENGER?!?!?!

I just installed SP2, which also included the dreaded "Windows Messenger". Of course, I do not need this, so I erased the "messenger" folder from Program Files, which contained this actual program...
However, the program still appears on my computer, even with that folder gone!!

SP2 didn't put it back on mine but I already had the component removed through the "add or remove windows components" program.
