Get rid of WINDOWS MESSENGER?!?!?!

I just installed SP2, which also included the dreaded "Windows Messenger". Of course, I do not need this, so I erased the "messenger" folder from Program Files, which contained this actual program...

However, the program still appears on my computer, even with that folder gone!!

HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS?

go to start - run

and copy and paste this code

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

it will remove windows messenger for good

SP2 didn't put it back on mine but I already had the component removed through the "add or remove windows components" program.

Just to clarify - you removed msn messenger(the instant messaging program from microsoft) not windows messenger. They are two different things. You don't have to remove windows messenger, just turn it off to keep from getting hundreds of popups daily.
