get rid of TranslatorBar

November 4, 2010 at 11:36:15
Specs: Windows XP
I downloaded TranslatorBar and secifically didn't want it to attach itself to my toolbar.
However, despite unchecking the boxes when asked, it has now filled an extra line on my screen and when I go to install/uninstall programmes it doesn't appear. How do I go about uninstalling it?
It wasn't even able to convert the files I wanted to convert despite saying it could convert wps on the web page.
Thanks for your help,

I'd already googled it but it would be nice to know which uninstall download to trust rather than just have some more junk stick on my drive because it doesn't turn out to do what it says on the tin. Isn't that what this guide is supposed to help avoid?

It seems to be explained pretty clearly on the TranslatorBar Help page.

I can’t uninstall the TranslatorBar toolbar.

1. Visit the TranslatorBar toolbar's download page and reinstall the toolbar.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Uninstall the toolbar again.

Or you could try to restore Windows to a time just before you installed that program.

Hi Jacko,

I had a similar problem removing Translatorbar 5, so did it this way. However, a word of caution: be VERY careful about what you delete from the registry as it could create serious problems. Ensure, BEFORE you delete anything, that it definitely refers to the Translatorbar!! Once I'd completed the removal of Translatorbar, I followed exactly the same procedure afterwards to remove Conduit Engine which had also attached itself and which (I think) was part of the program.

Go to Start
Select RUN
Go to EDIT at the top of the page
Click on FIND
Type "Translatorbar 5" then click OK
The system will trawl through your registry files looking for anything to do with this product. When it finds one, it will highlight it.
Hit DELETE, then the RETURN key
Hit F3, which will find the next instance.
Continue until you get the message "No more files found".

Once you are cleared all the files, restart your browser. This works for both Firefox and IE.

Good Luck.
