Get rid of password prompt on PC I inherited

March 8, 2011 at 06:00:01
Specs: Windows XP
I have inherited a hp7943 with winxp home installed on it. The previous person set up a password to logon to it, but they don't remember what it is. How can I disable it? I have tried getting into the bios settings but the machine doesn't respond to any of the F key commands.

Any ideas?

No I'm afraid not. My one idea was to wipe and reload the o/s, but without the disk thats a bit of a bust.

If it happens to be a Dell, any Dell CD will work. Other than that, there are some password reset programs. Search google.

where abouts is the password, if its the windows login press F8 on boot up with bring up a menu goto safe mode and enter, login as administrator (no password) then goto control panel and change your user account settings, if its on the bios then the easiest way is to open the computer and look for the clear cmos jumper.
