First, yesterday M$ have quietly uploaded windows media player 10 to build 3802 without any press fanfare. Go HERE to download the new version. As usual, you need to be running genuine XP.

Second, if you criticize software patents, you are a communist in the eyes of Uncle Billy Gates. Read story HERE

Third, am I seeing things? Am I losing my mind? I was told that IE couldn't be uninstalled because it is a core component of XP OS. Now I have been reading various Internet news reports saying that M$ will divorce it from XP.

Odd.....when I try the upgrade from within WMP, it says am up to date yet I don't have the latest 3802 build.

Oh well, off to the download page. BTW I still use IE but no where near as much as I use to. I wish M$ swallows its ego once and only just add built-in tabbed browsing to IE and I for one will use it a lot more.

B4 you criticize a bigger man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, you're a mile away, and you have his shoes.

Hi Sabertooth,

I think you need to download the whole thing, uninstal your current WMP, then install build 3082.

Regards.

BTW are you a communist?

I got the upgrade done by downloading and running the 3082 executable from M$. BTW I am not fan of Dubya and I'd rather have rules handed out to me by a broken lawnmower in place of that dude.

Bu$h + Bill + Lil'Hater = Commie.....lol

So the proper way to install this is to uninstall WMP10 version one has now? I have downloaded but not installed yet. I had to jump through too many hoops using Firefox to download it and finally just checked the box to skip validation and download. I first downloaded the validation program, ran it, pasted the code in the text box, then it said the browser(I think) wasn't capable of running the next part of validation so it offered an alternative which took a little time to download that, gave another option to download something else, and that's when I backed out, went back, started over and the first page I came to that allowed to download without validation, I clicked that and downloaded.
