Hi. My friend's having a trouble with her laptop/windows XP.. I'm trying to sort this through MSN as she's away but from what I can tell this is the problem... She gets to the log in screen in windows xp. Logs in, then shes logged out straight away back to the log in screen. A message comes up saying something about 'saving personal settings' before the log out. Recently she let her friend format the laptop and thinks he may have messed it up somehow, not sure how exactly tho. My suggestion was to get the laptop in safemode. (Thanks to everyone who helped in that thread) but it seems that every attempt leads to a blue-screen scaning the hard drive.. something about a FAT32 drive.. So that's the situation, anyone got any suggestions? Her current ideas are to either install XP again over this version or remove the hard disk....

Well if you can't get the PC into "Safe Mode" without entering "Check Disk Mode" then you have a disk drive problem. FAT32 format is not as reliable as NTFS but is the default when installing XP home edition ( cmd> convert c: /fs=ntfs ) If she could boot in SafeMode then the user Administrator would be available to fix her user. Probably there was a disk rellated problem that started all of these problems. 2½ inch disks tend to fail more often then 3½ inch disks.
