Hi. Little bit after i start windows, I get an error messege that states the following:
"generic host process for win32 has encountered a problem and needs to close,we're sorry for the inconvinience."
when I press okay, identical messege pops up on the screen. when I press okay to that as well, I get a new error that states the following:
the system is shutting down. please save all work in progress and log ff. any unsaved changes will be lost. this shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM
at the bottom of the error window, it says:
"windows must now restart because the remote procedure call(RPC) service terminated unexpectedly"
there is a 1 minute countdown timer on the error window, and when it reaches 0, my computer shuts down. I don't know if its just a coincidence, but it doesn't happen when I disconnect my self from the internet by unplugging my network cable. any ideas?

It's happening to me too. After the Error Msg. I fixed the NT Security restart problem by going to Start > Control Panel > Proformance and Maintenance > Adminstrative Tools > Computer Managament > Service and Applications > Services.
It should be the 44rd Service on the List. Double Click on that Service in the Service Menu (Remote Procedure Call (RPC) *RpcSs*). This will open up the configration of the service. Then Click on the Recovery Tab and Drop down to "Restart the Service" on all Failure Listings.

I dunno about the error popup on the generic host error. I've tried fixing it with a clean install of the os. But i'm still getting the same error msg. When i installed XP over 98SE it didn't do this.

I've notice that when the error shows on the screen, after you dont send. you cannot save or paste any type of text. it also disables opening a image file into a new explorer window.

please email me if you know how to fix that problem.

thanx,
liquidusoxide
