Good Day everyone:
I am new to this site and so far its fantastic. I am not a complete newbie to I.T. but i do have a question that perhaps is better placed here. Like the title states, either or, which is better for ones career. I currently hold a CCNA but i can state that I do less networking at my job and more General task such as reinstalls, computer deployments, troubleshooting and slight networking problems. I dont want to lose my CCNA knowledge, my network knowledge but i fear that i will because my job doesnt utlize that aspect of my skill set. Any ideas on what i can do ? Lets say i do more Desktop than Network Eng, lol, which is not bad i suppose.

It all depends on what makes you happy & fulfilled with your career. If you are not fully satisfied with what you do currently; then there is no better time to start thinking about making a switch to something more challenging; particularly, one that also promises a good use of your specific skill set.
Network engineering is a bustling line of work & there is always a demand for folks like yourself, but the kicker is you have to be very good to undermine the competition. Unfortunately, right now, you barely have what it takes to even attempt to compete for a job that will get you the best hands-on experience.
My suggestion is to stay where you are & attempt to elevate your certifications because with CCNA, you are just at the apprentice level & most sizeable firms are looking for more than that in an IT personnel, once you bag a couple more, you'll look more attractive to some of those firms.
Good luck!
