see Response Number 13.
says to use http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_44.03.html

When ever I have a problem with drivers that say they work with xp and don't, I use the win2k drivers. Works every time.
I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...

Did you follow this tips?

Asus A7N8X-X

well unless im mistaken the drivers for XP are the same as for 2k or atleast they come in the same exe file
Q-TEC 550 Watt PSU
MSI VIA KT4AV-L

Did you upgrade to service pack 2? I'm thinking that service pack 2 may have updated native drivers. What I would do is uninstall the old one and reinstall it if Windows dectects that it has a driver for it.
