GDIPLUS.DLL error - cause WLM crash

May 18, 2007 at 08:50:20
Specs: XP Pro, 2400, 1GB

Not my system but there seems to be a bit of a problem with some applications in XP, notably Frontpage 2003 and Windows Live Messenger. They won't start - they just give an error box and the culrpit file appears to be GDIPLUS.DLL. Other applications work ok, and even MSN Messenger 7.5 (Pre WLM) runs fine. What could be causing these crashes?

Cheers

Alex

Running on XP Pro. And the error, which appears just after the splash screen, is shown here:

Thanks

That dll is linked to some security issues in windows. Look here for one: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/se...

Thanks for the link, OTH. I tried installing the update for Office 2003 (KB838905) but its had no effect. I'm wondering if GDIPLUS.DLL is corrupt, but thing is, I've searched on the machine and there are 2 different versions of the file, as there are on my working x64 machine, so I'm assuming all XP installations have 2 copies of the file. Not sure which one is causing the problem!

That dll appears to be used by netframe. You probably have netframe 1.1, or 2.0 installed.
