Ok, so I play this game called counter-strike. There is a icon on my startmenu that lets me get directly into a server without having to go into the game. I need to go in through the game though, but if I do, my computer instantly freezes. Sometimes I need to edit the options by getting into the game, but it just freezes before I can change them. I have been just going in through the servers button recently, but now that I reinstalled the game, I have to edit some options, but there is no possible way to get into the game and into the options menu to edit things without it freezing. When I am playing(after I get in through the servers button), sometimes I need to edit the options. The "console" button allows you to do that. When I go into console, it does the same thing as if I go into the game, it freezes. I know its not the game because my other games do it too. I have tryed reinstalling it over and over and theres no hope! PLEASE HELP ME!!

Is it a file, a virus, please help in any way possible.

Sincerely,

Mike

Update all your drivers to the latest versions and make sure the latest version of DirectX (9.0b) is installed, although it probably will be. You can do that by going Start, run, typing dxdiag and pressing Enter.

I would also run a virus scan and spyware scan with something like Spybot to be sure.

Before blaming the hardware, it would be wise to format and reinstall Windows incase you have a software conflct.

maybe you have the graphics and textures set to high this can cause games to lagg and freeze during gameplay
