Games that I trying to play are crashing back to the desktop, sometimes before they start (before intro) sometime before the game actually starts (as in start playing). This happens with Fifa 2004, Fifa 2003, Grand Prix 2004, does not happen with Formula 1 99-02.
I know the main reason for this would be either overheating or voltages.
My temp for cpu is ~44C, and the other case and mobo temps stay at about 36C-38C.
The rail voltages also seem perfectly fine, they do not go haywire or anything,
+12V : 11.80V-11.875V
+5V : 5.052V (stable)
+3.3V: 3.315V (stable)
Sometimes if the game does start after playing for a bit, the computer will randomly restart, and when i say randomly it is very very random, cannot make anything out of it. but this restarting happens only when playing games. Therefore i attribute this problem with the graphics card.My Specs:
Pentium 4 2.8c Ghz
512Mb DDRRam
80 GB WD 7200 RPM
40 GB WD 7200 RPM
DVDROM and DVDRW
GeForce 3 Ti 200 64 MB DDR, its kind of old now atleast 2 years.
Would a graphics card change do the trick,
I am thinking of upgrading, and i am not looking at something above $140. I did a lot of research and the POWERCOLOR ATI 9600 Pro or ATI 9600 XT seem like a good buy anyone have any suggestions for the problem as well as a better graphics card.
thanx

ok first you need to find the cause of this problem... to stop the computer from re-booting - right click on my computer goto properties, advanced tab, startup and recovery settings, untick automatically restart under system failure.. boot up a game and wait for it to crash... instead of restarting it will goto a blue screen with further info as to what caused the crash. Let us know what it says...
my guess is either a driver issue or the ram is faulty as your temps look fine to me, you can download and run something called memtest from http://www.memtest86.com/ to check your ram.

thanx for the info Johnstun, I made that change and got an error first up, not a BSOD error but a Windows error.
I noticed that my pagefile was on the same drive as the windows drive and it did not have a lot of free space. Therefore the temp game files or something seem to be getting messed up.
I changed the pagefile to be stored onto another partition that has 6 gigs free and my computer has not restarted since and all my games work perfectly fine not restarting at all.chiraag
