try opening internet explorer and try going to one of these addresses: 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1. you should get something that asks for a user name and password. leave the user name blank and type admin for the password. after oyu get into the settings there should be something thats says dmz host. put your ip address for the dmz host

"Put your ip address for the dmz host"

Noooooo!

Not with a public game server. First you need to find out what ports the game is using. Just search google for "%gamename% server ports". Or you can do a "netstat -n" in dos to find out what ports are open. Then you need to pinhole those ports through the dlink.

The dlink uses NAT (network address translation) to take the internal network traffic and route it to the internet through the cable modem. then you need to give you server computer a static ip address (right click on "my network places" then get properties. then right click on "local area connection" and get the properties on that. find in the list of protocols, the TCP/IP. double click that and fill out this information. IP= 192.168.0.10, subnet mask= 255.255.255.0, gateway= 192.168.0.10 dns (preferred) = 192.168.0.1) so that you have something to pinhole it to. Since the dlink issues out address's starting at 192.168.0.100, this ip is out of the range of the dhcp server on the router.

To connect to the dlink and pinhole it, you have to open a browser and pint it to http://192.168.0.1 when you connect to a dlink it will give you the dlink welcome screen, with the password on the bottom. If your buddy remembers what he put in as the password you will get the normal "status" screen. Now you need to hit the advanced (on the bottom, last choice) then you will get the list of pinholes (they should be blank). all you have to do is type in his address in the first box, then the port the game is using, and check the "enable" box( if the game uses multiple ports you have to fill out a box for all of the ports, like if it uses ports 1523 - 4879 - 9635 (random numbers) then you would enter the ip 192.168.0.10 3 times with each one of those ports listed beside the ip), then hit the save button at the bottom, then the reboot button.

P.S., if the game uses a rage of ports (21000-21500) you can put that in the ports box like this...
