while installing games (newer games) my computer freezes so i must restart it evrything else works fine,it drives me nuts! please help!
hdd 40gb
asus p4s8x-x
nvidia geforce4 mx440 64mb with agp8x

it may be due to your cd-rom struggling to read the copy protection on some newer CD's.

First thing to try is disabling DMA mode on your CD-ROM when you want to install something. I couldn't install Vice City until I did this.

You can also try updating your CD-ROM's firmware, and if you have a second optical drive see if that is any better.
