Hey guys. I'm experiencing an error while attempting to install Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. Just as the installation starts, this error pops up:
"An error (-5003 : 0x5) has occurred while running the setup.
Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: Novalogic
http://www.NovaLogic.com)."I have exited out of my VirusScan and any other unnecessary programs listed through Task Manager, and the error still pops up. I do not have any previous setups running, either.
This game used to install fine the last time I installed it. The CD does not appear to be scratched, smudged, or damaged in any way. I've even tried copying the entire CD to my hard drive and installing it from there, but that didn't work either.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Chris

Maybe give this a shot.
I tried to be a tailor, but I just wasn't suited for it...
mainly because it was just a sew-sew job.

Thanks for the reply. I tried running that, and received this:
"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying.
There is no need to install this update."

May want to check these:

Or try this:

A few things I forgot to mention:
1. This is the first time I've attempted to install this game on this computer.
2. I just tried installing on the older computer I had, in which it runs normally.
3. The older computer also has Windows XP Home Edition SP2.
4. I do have the latest version of DirectX.
5. The error still pops up when running the CD on both CD drives on this computer.
Thanks!
Chris
