Hi Folks!

As an FYI, the link below provides possible solution to many of the most common problems with Windows Update issues. In addition, the database is being updated as new problem surface. This link deserves a place in your must-have toolbox!

P.S. For those who uses bootlegged XP, the above link may not help you

Update:

If Windows Update works fine scanning for updates, but when you choose to download and install them the page displays this error message:

Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page.
0x800A138F

or simply

Error 0x8007007e

Are you still having problems? According to THIS link:

1. You cannot access Windows Update if you are not running a validly licensed Windows operating system.

2. You are using browsers other than Internet Explorer 4 or higher.

3. You have disabled ActiveX Controls.

If you are still experiencing problems after doing all of the above, a repair XP Reinstall may be your only option.
