Comment:

There are two ways to find out.

First this Microsoft statement:

One of the many benefits of owning genuine Microsoft software is gaining access to Microsoft Support Services. Below are two ways to help you determine whether your version of Windows is genuine.

1. Run the Windows Validation Assistant

If you are running Windows XP SP1 or Windows Server 2003, the Windows Validation Assistant can scan your product key to help you determine whether your computer’s operating system is genuine.

2. Compare Your Anti-Piracy Features

Select the method by which you acquired Windows and compare the anti-piracy features included with your product with the anti-piracy features included with genuine Microsoft software:

(1) Windows was preinstalled on my new PC
(2) Acquired Windows via retail purchase
(3) Acquired Windows Upgrade Volume License
(4) I have not yet purchased the PC

If you select the second method, you will be taken to a YES/NO, TRUE/FALSE Q&A.

May God forgive, and bless the United States.

Hi doc.

You're correct. I never looked at the Windows Explorer Help until you prompted me to do so.

Thanks :-)

P.S. I think this post is nice to stay put in case someone comes on and ask.

OK...so hypothetically speaking...if I have a pirated copy of XP installed & go to this site, it will scan my system, & find my illegal software...then what? Will it record my info & ban me from future Windows Updates? Will it send some sort of energy pulse & fry my HDD? What penalty would I pay?...hypothetically speaking...lol

Hypothetically speaking,

(1) Be ready for the M$ SWAT Storm Troops
(2) M$ CEO knows no mercy so most likely your penalty would be to work for him finding ways to prevent others from doing what you do :-)

Hypothetically yours

LOL

The worse employer to work for is the Billionaires - they even do their shopping at the thrifty stores (never Bloomingdale's), you know :-)
