I have a Strange Problem! usually when i boot windows up and arrived at the desktop it wierdly wont run any programs. It loads all the stuff in the Systray. then when i click on say Internet Explorer it just has the hour glass thing when usually it takes less than a sec.. then I Load up other programs nothing just the hourglass so CTL+ALT+DEL nothing so i left it and about 5 mins later the whole lot loaded up at once any suggestions to stop this cos its damn annoying and it happens mostly when Broadband justs connects as well...

Is the computer 'fully' booted up? IOW, does the same thing happen if the machine has been on for 5 to 10 minutes? LL

Chances are you have a program that is running in the background, pulling a majority of the system resources. First off, I'd check what is running in your System Tray (by the clock). Remove any program that doesn't need to be running all the time. Firewall and Anti-virus should be running, but things like RealOne and the ISP you use don't need to be running. Then check the Processes tab: Give this page a thorough read. Run a virus scan and scan for spyware. Download SpyBot The "Donation" is optional. Finally, try a Repair of XP by inserting the Win XP CD and choosing the "Repair" option. LL

Thanks LL! Ive found out what it is its whenever i connect to Broadband! it doesnt load any programs at all! until at least 10 mins have past i will do what u say now, just to see if its that! Ill report later
