I've been using this cam for a long time on XP now, it installed automatically using the XP universal drivers on my PC, not the win98 ones from the cam's cd.
It's worked fine up untill now, everytime I plug the USB cable in, the pc crashes and reboots, giving information on recovering from a crictical error caused by unknown drivers.

Huh?? It's worked fine any other time.
I cant find any XP drivers for this cam, and I've tried uninstalling the cam/drivers and installing again, but as soon as it installs, it crashes and reboots again.

Please help!!

Try pluging the camera in before you turn the pc one. USB is powered and can sometimes cause problems when just plugging stuff in. (although plugging stuff in while the system is on, is one of the selling points)

Try removing any traces of the camera from your computer, and then turn off, plug in and start again.

The only thing to do with my cam on the pc are the USB drivers. I use the printer & scanner wizard XP software to get the pics, and that comes with XP...
I unintalled the USB driver, turned off, plugged it in a booted up. It found the Cam, installed it's own drivers (the ones that usually work) and then crashed again!

If this problem just started recently, use System Restore. With USB you do not need to shut down to connect the cam.

What have you installed since successfully using your cam the last time? There could be a conflict.

I had similar problems when I plug in my Creative PC Cam 300 on the USB port. Make sure your USB port is not sharing IRQ with the video card. Also, I used to have Zone Alarm, and I suspect it somehow messed up my xp.Even after I removed it, my xp won't recognize the webcam and if I reload the webcam driver, xp would shutdown as soon as I plug it in the USB port. So I removed Zone Alarm, removed pc cam driver, reload xp, then reload back the pc cam driver and it works now.
