My neighbor replaced his computer case installing his Dell Inspiron 531S motherboard into the new case. The new case has front panel connectors for HD LED, Reset and Power. Does anyone know what the pin configuration is for the Dell 531S mobo front panel connector? The user's manual has no information on this.

Did you look on Dell's website?

You mean to say you can't figure it out by looking at the the Dell case wiring?

Find the board on the following page that most resembles the Dell board, download the manual & look at the front panel header diagram:

Well, first of all, the old Dell case is about 100 miles away. My neighbors visiting neice did the change over to an Antec 900 case. I found these front panel wires not connected, but looking at the header pins on the front panel connector does not give me a clue and there are no ID markings on the mobo as to the pin configuration. The Dell website did not reveal any more than what the user's manuals shows. I sure in hell was not going to tell her to experiment with all the pins and see which one will work. I thought that information would be in the user's manual, but it's not.

Good luck, It seem like most of the big box companies do not post the pinout for there motherboard.

In fact you will be lucky if you can even use the connector.
I am attempting to transfer a IBM into another case. The case has the usual 1/2 dozen connect but the IBM uses a single plug connect.

What does the Dell have are the connection single or all one piece?

Just an FYI; this is a hardware question and would best be answered in that Forum. DON'T double-post though.

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum. I will tell them to contact Dell and work it out with them. I don't have the Service Tag number so I won't sweat it. Thanks all for your responses.
