Went to open an Excel document which I keep on my desktop as I use it often and was confronted with the following messages.. (1)Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft XP Professional with Front Page.(2) Error 1076.Setup cannot find required files. Why do I need this Front Page stuff all of a sudden? I just need the excel sheet opened. Help.

1 - Open your Window Explorer 2 - Click on TOOLS ( Top menu ) 3 - Go down to FOLDER OPTIONS 4 - Choose the FILE TYPES tab 5 - Find the extension XLS ( Microsoft Excel Worksheet ) 6 - Click on it one time and then click CHANGE 7 - Choose Microsoft Excel *** I'd do the same procedures for Frontpage documents..

this has nothing to with above post. "Microsoft Office with Front Page" is the name of the whole package and basically your system is asking for the office disk or access to the original setup files. you need to supply the files before it will work.
