Hello,

I have purchased a FPOUT cable to connect to the sound header of my ECS P4S5A motherboard PC so that I have front headphones and front microphone. The headphones work fine but not the mic. I cannot make it work from the front, but from the rear it works fine. How do you make front mic work? I've heared you have to enable it via software, but I've found no software like this. The sound is integrated SIS7012.

Any help?
Vince

Vince,

It could be that something is muted. Try this:

Go to Start; Control Panel; Then look for Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices. Click on that.

You'll see two options, pick a task or the bottom one that says pick a control panel icon. Below pick a control panel, you'll see Sounds and Audio Devices. Click that and then click the Advanced button under Device Volume.

Play COntrol will open up. Click on Options. Then choose Properties. You'll see two radio buttons, the 1st one says Playback and the 2nd one says Recording. Click on the radio button that says Recording. Click OK. A window will open up. See if all the selections that say Line-in are checked off. If not, click on them. Now, if you want to hear your voice come out of the speaker, go back to the radio button and select Playback. Click OK. You should see that Line in has a check in the mute box. This is done this way because if you are recording into your PC, your voice won't blast from the speakers behind you, thus causing feedback. HOwever, if you want to hear yourself, then you will have to uncheck Line In on the playback.

I hope this helps.

Hello,

No I'm doing everything fine.

The home PC has front mic as well and noticed that underneath Recording and Microphone there is an
Advanced button, where I can select "Mic2" from there. Mic2 is the front mic. On this PC, though, there is no "mic2 select" underneath Advanced. Is there maybe a driver for SIS 7012 which can enable this?

If this printed twice it's because my bumbling brain sees double. If any one has a chure for that, let me no.

Hey Vince,

I'm sorry, I really don' know. Can you send me a screen shot of your system and what your hook-up looks like? I need visuals. And if I can't get it, I have friends who will be more than happy to assist. We'll work it out and get you up and running. Let me know and I'll give you my E-mail address.
