"You Had Me At Hello"
Lately I've noticed my computer freezing up at the welcome screen (blue). I ran Check Disk, but before I could read the full results it closed up. I caught a glimpse of what looked like a reference to adaware (antispyware). I've since removed it, but still freezing at welcome screen. Has anyone else encountered this? What exactly occurs when windows displays that welcome screen, hardware or software. Thanks in Advance.

How to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP To help troubleshoot error messages or other issues when you cannot determine the cause of the issue, disable common startup programs, settings, and drivers to eliminate possible software conflicts when you start Microsoft Windows XP. This procedure is known as "clean booting." (Can be done by way of Windows Safe-Mode, logon as Administrator, but where it says RESTART, restart into normal Windows.) How to perform advanced clean-boot troubleshooting in Windows XP and that one is a heavy duty article.

Thanks for the advice but I'm gonna go ahead and try to track the source of the problem first. Im looking into software issues. It might just be a windows update gone wrong. Could be memory. With computers, sheesh, so many directions. I'll keep your post in mind though as last resort. Thanks again friend.
