Freezes when right clicks on folder

just reinstalled windows xp pro.. everything seem fine, until i right clicks on a folder that i want to delete or check its properties .. then the computer frezz, all the icons disappear.. then everything is back to normal again.
i've never encounter this problem before and i sure dont know how to fix it.

Does the task bar disappear too? win explorer might be crashing/corrupt. Maybe try the re-install again? Or go into a command prompt and type "sfc /scannow".
Or it could simply be lag...

yes.. the task bar disappear along with all the desk top icons.
i'll try sfc/scannow first
