My computer was working fine before, but when i start it up the next day, it starts to freeze on the startup screen. It always freezes on startup now, and i can't get into windows to find the problem. I've tried to reinstall using the installion cd, fixboot, and chkdsk and it still freeze on the startup screen.

Won't help you this time, but think about using Roxio Go Back. It installs so deep in the system that it ALWAYS appears early in the boot sequence and gives you a chance to restore your system to an earlier time when it worked.
