Hello,

I was trying to fix my friends computer for a little extra cash, but its turning out to be quite a problem to do.

Its an Emachine (enough problems to begin with IMO) and as soon as i hit the power switch, i get the emachine E like its about to boot. Then it sits there and does nothing. I try to hit F2 or F10 to go into either the set up or bios and on the rare occasion it does anything at all, it brings me to a screen that says "hit shift F10" and then it won't let me do anything at all and is frozen.

I'm stumped on this one. Any ideas?

Very bad memory or even a bad harddrive will sometimes cause this type of error.

To be on safe side....remove any additional hardware that is installed and see if it will allow you to boot properly then.

The power supply is most likely gone bad, E-machines are notorious for that
