Specs: Windows XP Professional P III EB 800 256 MB SDRAM Asus CUVX 4E Nvidia Geforce2 MX Souldblaster Live Value!
Then next to "Select a Microsoft Product", find and click Windows XP.
Then below that, type in what problem you are having (in one or more words). eg.: HANGS
Then next to "Results Limit" select 50 or more. Then click the green GO button. ------------------ Use the word hangs instead of freezing.

Hangs when returning from standby are most often caused by buggy drivers or out-of-date BIOS. The NVIDIA driver and the SB Live Value both work fine as far as I know. What other drivers do you have? Anti-virus? Firewall?

Norton Antivirus 2002 works with standby, at least it does on my system. The only other thing I can suggest is to experiment by progressively disabling software components until standby-resume succeeds, thus isolating the problematic component. When you figure out what caused the problem, please report it here. Good luck.
