Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this and tries to help.
My computer begins to freeze without any warning couple months ago, but it¡¯s becoming increasing frequent now. The freeze occurs either when I¡¯m surfing the web using IE or watching movies using Windows Media Player. I haven¡¯t experience freezes using other program or playing games.
I don¡¯t think that this is an software issue because I had Windows 2000 and upgraded to XP recently. The problem didn¡¯t go away. So, I¡¯m guessing that this is due to hardware, not sure what would be the cause of this though. Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks again.
Bryan

I can think of 3 things to try.
1. Look for a driver update for your video card.
2. Run a memory test.
Doc memory tester3. Run scandisk `thorough' on the hard drive.

Freezeups while using IE are quite common. It may still be a software issue if you only upgraded to XP rather than doing a new installation. If you haven't got faulty memory or hard disk, and a graphics driver update doesn't work, then I would try a format and reinstall. If you have more than one partition you could always install another copy of XP aswell as your current one and see if it solves the problem before you format.

XPFreak, I did do a clean install of XP Pro.
However, I do suspect that it's a memory and/or videocard problem. But, the videocard I have is not supported anymore because the company had gone bankrupted (I have a Voodoo 3 3500 with intergrated TV Tuner). So, I'm hoping that someone have written a driver for it.
As to memory, I'll run a test using the util suggested by ham30 as soon as I get home.
Thanks for the reply.
