The Google tool bar is just that. A tool bar. It has no reference to what your home page is set to. The Google tool bar has built in pop up blocker and functions as such. You are free to configure IE any way you wish.

Although terii is right on with the google tool bar, I think that your problem is a bit more than that. It may have already been installed to your HDD and the toolbar will not help you there. You need to do a clean-up of your computer.

download the following...update them and run them one right after the other.

crap cleaner download here

spywareblaster download here

spybot s&d download here

adawareSE download here

I use PopupKiller, which, unfortunately is no longer available.
It's free, and if you would like to try it out, I've got it on my website here: PopupKiller

A regularly updated hosts file works as good as if not better than any of the third party programs that are available. Also doesn't use any resources.

In my opinion there´s only one thing to do about pop-ups. Download Avant Browser.
It´s lightyears beyond IE6 and more userfriendly than Firefox.

Using Popup blockers is like trying to treat a cold with a box of tissues.

You need to cure the cold.

See lurkswithin's post above.
