Hello.I'm very happy with the free Zone Alarm, version 4.5 firewall. Has always worked well.

Hi.

I was a ZoneAlarm user, but frankly, right now I don't see what's the great thing about it. Certainly, it is a very effective firewall, but it's also a HUGE resource hogger and you don't know what to expect with each new version. I've heard that the new ZoneAlarm 5 is very problematic. I switched to Sygate Personal Firewall and I'm very happy with it.

Hope this helps.

i use Kerio Personal Firewall. i have version 2.1.5. it works fine, as far as i can tell. i am not any kind of expert on these matters. i did read that folks weren't happy about the newer versions, i think they are up to 4.x or so.

Agreed! Kerio's 2.1.5. was one of the best firewalls ever to come down the pike. Small in size, easy on system resources, a snap to set up, and complete port stealthing. Their latest version (4.0.16) is a resource-hog and does no better job than the old version.

I like Sygate just fine but, if I could find a copy of the old Kerio, Sygate would be gone. 8-)

Thanks for the link. Hopefully, the text within the firewall itself isn't in a foreign language. 8-)

Guess I'll have to amend what I wrote above. My Sygate firewall is configured perfectly, so I have no reason to change it. However, I downloaded Kerio 2.1.5. and placed it in the archives. Should Sygate fail, it's rusty/trusty replacement awaits.

Thanks again.
