formatting sandisk 2gb memory card

Specs: Windows XP
please help have a Sandisk 2gb SD memory card that I am using with a camera (fuji finepix z20fd). I have formatted the card directly from the camera. The card works fine in the camera, I can take and save pics on it. However, when I put the card into a card reader and plug it it to my computer, I get the message that the card is not formatted and asks whether I want to format it. If I choose the format option, at the end it gives me the 'unable to format' message. What can I do to make the card readable on my Windows XP computer? I also have a 32 MB card that came with the camera, and that works fine on both the camera and on my card reader and computer. The problem is with the 2gb card. Any help appreciated.

Get a new card reader capable of reading SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) which is what your card is.

try to scan the card with anti virus programs. Or try to connect your camera to the computer with the card installed inside of it.

How is he going to scan it with anti virus software if XP doesn't see it as formatted?

XPUser had the right answer, I had to buy a new card reader when I went with a higher capacity card.
