I currently have windows XP on my computer and i want to format my hard drive. To do this, i put a windows ME boot disk in, and boot from it, and then when i type *format c:* it says something about it being an NTFS??? Is there any other ways, or an easier way for format it????

if it wont let you do this,

instead of typing format, type this

Fdisk

then choose Y, then select the option to delete the partition.
then select Create a partitin and allow maximum size

now reboot, with the disk and now you can type format c:

it'll start the format.

As I said to a FDisk Question Above this....

IN Windows XP you can not Format because it is probably on a NTFS Partition. No Not probably I KNOW IT IS!!! In order to Reload a Windows XP System, Do this
1: Boot to the Windows XP CD
2: At the Setup Screen Press Enter ( To Install )
3: It will come up and Say you can Repair Just Press ESC ( I think ) to continue Install. Just chose Option to Continue Installation
4: Choose the LARGEST Partition. ( Sometimes there will be a Smaller Partition 1 which is ' Utilities ' and then the Windows Partition )
5: Press ' D ' to Delete the Partition and Follow through with Deleting it.
6: After it is gone it will say UNPARTITIONED Space. Highlight this and Press Enter.
7: Format Partition Using NTFS File System ( NOT QUICK ) and Follow Through with Windows Installation.
I do this everyday for a Large WELL KNOWN Computer Manu. If you follow what I just said it will be fine.
