Hi y’all!
When I bought my PC, I had WinME installed on my C: drive. I had many problems with ME (graphics, sound) so I got myself XP hoping to improve my situation! Well, after installing XP on top of ME, I got other problems (Explorer crashing every time I blinked, DISK BOOT FAILURE, not to mention other unmentionables!!!). So I have decided to 1) buy a second HD 2) Format my C: drive.
Both drives are 40 gigs and the original HD is 5400 rpm and my new one is 7200 rpm. The only thing that I want to keep from my original HD is my MP3s (1,700 files!!!)
What I really want to do is COMPLETELY start over!!! I want to scrape my original c: drive and install XP fresh!
My question is:
1) Should I use my original HD or my new HD as OS?
a. If I use my new HD as OS (since greater rpm), which means that I have to format both HD…what about my MP3s? Where do I and how do I save them?
b. If I re-use my original HD and save my MP3s to my new HD, how do I go about formatting my original HD in NTFS, which is presently in FAT32?Hope I haven’t confused you too much ;P
Thanks in advance for your help!

Start by installing your new drive only as "master". Install XP to a "C" partition of about 6GB in Fat32 format. Get XP running and within it make a second partition "D" for programs and apps in NTFS. Shutdown and install your old hard drive as "slave" and you can view/transfer/whatever you want to do with your MP3's. Then delete the first partition on this second drive and redo for storage only since it's a 5400rpm drive.
