I have bought a HP Pavilion 7934 computer and XP is pre installed. There are no floppy rescue disks or start ups etc so if at some stage I wish to reformat how do I do this? Also my computer sometimes refuses to start up and I get an error message saying "insert boot disk/disk error" what do I do after this as so far I have had to switch the computer on and off again and I am worrying if this is healthy for the PC! Any help would be really appreciated

If this is a new rig then call HP and SCREAM REAL LOUD!!!!This should NOT be happening!!!!Somthing is way wrong and they should fix it,you should not have to.If it is NOT new then you will need a Windows CD of some sort(98-ME-XP etc etc).Make a disk from the program found here>> http://www.startdisk.com/Web2/ubd/ubd.htm It will walk you through the format and install but ALL YOUR OLD DATA WILL BE LOST!!! jimi_l

Your new HP should have a set of system recovery disks. These disks will not be floppies but CD's instead. If they were not included with your system contact the place of business in which you purchased the item so that they can correct the mistake. To recover the system you would insert the recovery cd and follow on screen instructions to format and recover your original system and any add on stuff from HP. Any error messages or system problems on a new computer should be resolved by HP at no cost to you. If they can't correct the problems return the computer and buy a Dell To research problems with your new HP try the HP Pavilion 7934 (UK)Support Website Good Luck.

The pc should have come with a WinXP CD. If so you could go into your cmos and setup your CDROM Drive as the first boot disk. Then you do a boot and the WinXP disk will take over and ask you if you would like to install on the existing partition or a new one. Also available at this point is the ability to delete a partition. This will delete all information on the partition deleted and provide you with a clean slate for a new install.
Hey Homeboy, HP XP machines do not ship with recovery cd's instead its all contained on a hidden partition on the drive---Boot the pc at the blue hp screen repeatedly tap the F10 key until the recovery process starts run a non-destructive
