You will need some sort of softare to format a disk. Check the website of the manufacturer of your disk for their utility software, use the Windows install disk, or download one of the many applications for formatting. You could also use a Windows 98 startup disk if you want to format in FAT32.

If you want to completely clear the disk, you can use DelPart. It can delete all partitioning on the drive.

There are many ways to format. What Windows version are you running? If you tell us the Windows version, it will be easier for us to tell you exactly how to format it.
